MY FAVORITE PLACE: PENANG, MALAYSIA

George Town from a window up above (Cloud 8 on the top floor of 1st Avenue Shopping Mall)
If I could spend forever in any of the places I've visited in Southeast Asia over the last three months without having to worry about such troublesome details as visas and making a living, I'd probably be calling George Town on Penang Island in Malaysia home.

Like all great loves, this one was totally unexpected. It sneaked up on me when I wasn't looking (well, truthfully speaking, I was probably staring at one of those mountains in the near distance), and it's something of a mystery. But this much I know for sure: 1) The way the mountains meet the sea leaves a visual impact that has me constantly craning my neck to get a different, better view. 2) It's the perfect balance of energetic and chilled. 3) The people are friendly without being obsequious. 4) Like sex for breakfast, a brisk jog and "No Scrubs" by TLC on my iPod, it puts me in the best possible mood.

Looks pleasant and crowd less place. There is no traffic on the roads. I think this is the best thing about Penang.
