Ah, springtime in BA. Blues skies. Rays of sunlight. Trees in bloom. People doing the most peculiar things. Today, I was riding the
collectivo to an appointment when I spotted two young boys washing car windows for extra change at the stoplight of a particularly busy intersection. While I applauded on the inside because it was nice to see kids working hard for the money rather than begging for it or, worse, stealing it, my clapping stopped when I saw the older of the boys, who couldn't have been more than 12, accept a cigarette from a man in the passenger's seat of a truck, drags on it three times and hand it back to man. When mommie dearest taught us how to share, I don't think this is what she had in mind.
